A regular concern about Irish exports is that they are driven by the multinational sector, but as far as the Arab world is concerned both the multinational and more jobs-rich indigenous sectors are equally important. And Ireland’s huge trade surplus with the UAE (at €16m a year Ireland’s imports from the UAE are less than one tenth of its exports) reflects the enormous potential of the entire region for Irish growth and jobs.
